The above slide is the example of the slide that required changes.
It is important for document designers to consider the design of their document. Mackenzie (1994) argued that writers need to make appropriate integration between words and graphics in order to create information that is accessible and usable for readers.(cited in Putnis et al 1996, p.240)
In the above slide shows that there are two unrelated pictures which makes the readers difficult to understand, besides that the images are not balance. As stated by Putnis et al (1996, p. 254) in order to create a good document, there are some specific strategies, some of the strategies are to balance the graphics and text within the page, and also to balance the negative (white) space with the positive (text, title, and visual space). Therefore, in order to produce a good document the picture in that slide need to change to be balance within the page. As stated by Reep (2006, p.157) too much or to little space will upset the balance and the proportion of the page.
Furthermore, the image in that slide also does not have caption and source citation. Teufel et al said that citations play a central role in the process of writing a paper. Swales (1990) argue that researchers must justify their paper in order to makes a contribution to the knowledge in their discipline (cited in Teufel et al). In addition, as in the advance technology, mostly people read news on the website.Jacob Nielsen argues that credibility is important for web users. He said that credibility can be increased by high-quality of graphics, good writing, and use of outbound hypertext links which shows the links to prove to readers that the news they read are based on research. Rothman (2005) suggest that writers should present part of their reasoning process and things that may have altered the result or result they interpret in order to make the document really affective.
